Under general direction, to perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of County buildings, facilities and equipment; and to do related work as required.
- Evaluates, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
- Responds to trouble-calls.
- Evaluates and diagnoses mechanical—electrical malfunctions.
- Ensures proper adjustment of systems control to maintain occupancy comfort, machinery safety and energy efficiency; performs other repair and maintenance work of County buildings as required.
Methods, practices, materials and equipment used in the operation and repair of boilers, condensers, pumps and fans; safe work practices, applicable State codes, ordinances and regulations; general repair techniques applicable to building maintenance.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during course of work; willingness to be on call for emergencies.
Effectively locate problems within a variety of systems.
Training and Experience:
Equivalent to five years experience in the operation and repair of commercial and residential HVAC equipment, including boiler systems. Completion of a two year program in mechanical-electrical technology may be substituted for two years experience.
Possession of an appropriate California driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles may be required.
