POSITION SUMMARY

Under general direction, to perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of County buildings, facilities and equipment; and to do related work as required.



EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

  • Evaluates, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
  • Responds to trouble-calls.
  • Evaluates and diagnoses mechanical—electrical malfunctions.
  • Ensures proper adjustment of systems control to maintain occupancy comfort, machinery safety and energy efficiency; performs other repair and maintenance work of County buildings as required.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Methods, practices, materials and equipment used in the operation and repair of boilers, condensers, pumps and fans; safe work practices, applicable State codes, ordinances and regulations; general repair techniques applicable to building maintenance.

 

Skill to:

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during course of work; willingness to be on call for emergencies.

Ability to:

Effectively locate problems within a variety of systems.

 

Training and Experience:

Equivalent to five years experience in the operation and repair of commercial and residential HVAC equipment, including boiler systems. Completion of a two year program in mechanical-electrical technology may be substituted for two years experience.

 



SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of an appropriate California driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles may be required.

Successful completion of all phases of the County’s testing process is required.
