POSITION SUMMARY

The Deputy Sheriff II Extra Hire classification require previous experience and training in patrol, detective or civil divisions.

 

Recent law enforcement retirees encouraged to apply.

 

Valid POST certificate required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Principles and practices of law enforcement; rules and regulations of the sheriffs department; Laws of arrest and rules of evidence; laws applicable to apprehension and treatment of juveniles and inmates; care and operation of small firearms and other law enforcement equipment.

 

Ability to:

Demonstrate keen powers of observation and memory; analyze situation accurately and adopt effective courses of action; use and care for firearms; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees and the general public; meets standards of adequate physical stature, endurance and agility.

 

Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from high school, possession of a valid basic POST certificate and one year of law enforcement experience.

 

License/Certificates:

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License; Valid POST certificate.

Qualified applicants will be invited to an oral interview.  Following successful completion of the oral interview, a background investigation that will include a computer voice stress test analysis examination will be completed on the top candidates. All applicants who successfully complete the background investigation will then be scheduled for a psychological examination. In addition, a fit for duty medical examination will be completed. Successful completion of all phases of the County’s testing process is required.
